As OpenAI and Meta introduce LLM-driven searchbots, I'd like to once again remind people that neither LLMs nor chatbots are good technology for information access.

Incredible talk. Very excited to eventually hear more about the transfer patterns teased in the Q&A, given the relevance I see to DH computing ed!!
Broadening Participation in Computing by Moving Away from Computer Science: Information, Arts, Humanities, and Sciences offer better models for #CSforAll https://t.co/8XcbMQPXkz
My brilliant friend Cara is conducting a study about dancers and body image. If you are a Canadian dancer between 19 and 35 with 10+ years of dance training, I’d really encourage you to consider participating!
Details below. Please share widely!

An important statement from @ross_monique. CS and CER have limited epistemological belief systems, and that impacts both research and teaching. 1/2 https://t.co/Rxi6Y4mYyk
@DanaSchwartzzz Norwegian anise cookies! The recipe makes a ton, they keep extremely well, and are often a hit with people who claim not to have a sweet tooth. Use the leftover egg whites to make the best chocolate cookies on the internet https://t.co/MAmw3v4V8w
@ryancordell@ProgHist I’ve used a command line scavenger hunt (fairly scaffolded) with both CS and DH students that seems to have worked pretty well. It’s not very integrated, but we do click through the folders afterward so that they can see what they jumped through/made + what the UI won’t show you
@quinnanya If you want to completely ignore front-end and also don’t want to mess around with ORMs, I’m a big fan of python’s psycopg. It’s not sophisticated, but it’ll do the trick.
Concours d’art oratoire was such a wonderful experience as a #FRIM student and I’ve had a blast on the flipside as a judge in #sd61! Please RT/share with anyone who you think could be a good fit for this role!
We're looking for a skilled and enthusiastic event planner to coordinate our signature event, Concours d’art oratoire, from conception through to completion. Read more about the opportunity and apply here:

Ok technically my holiday has started, but I thought it'd be fun to do a @threadapalooza on programming and all the things I have thought about over the past year!
Let's see how close I can get to a hundred opinions and thoughts about programming & education! (1/100)
