Going through some old writings from grad school and thought I'd share something I did for an Early American History course a few years ago....probably one of the most fun assignments I had.
@sheshn94 Love the perfection myth bit. When I was writing my Master's thesis, my mentor told me "perfect is the enemy of good. It doesn't matter that what you write is perfect, it matters you have something to say." That one piece of advice changed my whole final year of grad school.
@sheshn94 Definitely! There are several instances dating back to the formation of the Early Church and it's integration into the secular Roman Empire, through the Reformation. We even see it in the US during slavery when people tried to justify racial slavery by using the Bible.
@sheshn94 Had to throw a cheeky Beatles/Lenin pun in there when talking about that region lol but same here! We have so much to learn from other cultures/regions of the world. Not to make it too religious, but we in the West often forget that the "big three" faiths all started in the East.
Another reason to go back. Really wanted to go in while in Paris for the Olympics, but ofc restoration was still months from being finished. Oh well, I'll get back there, my favorite city in the world.
Why was How the Word is Passed banned?! It should be highly recommended by schools as a good entry point to students curious about American Slavery and its impact on the United States
@acps_sup this one of you guys? Parked in the unloading part of a disabled parking spot outside El Puerto in Waynesboro. I've seen some parking jobs before but this takes the cake
@focusfronting Idk who told you that. My wife and I served zero alcohol at our wedding as we've both had poor experiences attending weddings that had open bars bc it encourages irresponsible drinking. When we announced our wedding date, first thing we said was no bar and never had any backlash
