@taigapog I think Dawntrail gained a lot of value from the trials being a part of the MSQ. So imho in this expansion I strongly preferred getting to fight Zelenya / Doom Train / Necron instead of a side story. But it's a subjective thing for sure.
@PendragoonFFXIV@GayAzureDog I think the primary function was to be a three-part high-production-value raid series for 24 people.
I think the alliance raid was primarily meant to be an alliance raid. Not an advertisement.
@ReinTenebrae@Khorgnir Maybe they should reveal all of the MSQ quest text ~4 months before it releases through datamining so we could experience it through twitter dot com instead
@AH_camelion@Bubbletchi So... conveniently you know that the xiv Cloud Strife will be the exact same Cloud Strife we see in the FF7R trilogy. Thank you for letting us know!
@Khorgnir tangentially related to this, sth i can't stop thinking about:
how do you write a story for a video game when you know that 95% of the people who care about that story are going to experience it through wowhead or x dot com 4 months before the content is released?
@buff_fire_mage holy fuck this is one of the first times I've seen anyone mention EW pacing... i thought i was insane because of how frustrating that story felt to me. (as a relatively new wow-to-ff14 convert)
@snark_talks I am the same! I'm only interested in the battle content. I want to do the raids and ultimates and criterion.
I also do not want to pay any more attention to gear than I have to. It's all a negative to me. I want to equip BiS as I get it and ignore gear for the next 9 months.
@HellaSteve1@Sindalf And I think I'd like to point out that both of these problems cannot exist at the same time. Why are you worried about gear being hard to acquire as a non-savage-raider, if any potential gear is useless anyway?
@chrstphrbrnnn I personally don't have a problem with a potential ultimate (or criterion) being the only "useful" reason to acquire savage gear. That's just how vertical progression works. You use your gear to parse in current content. You replace your gear quickly in the next content cycle.
