Another part of my childhood and a part of my adulthood both come to an end simultaneously.
Aqueduct is a horseplayer’s track. It has the old racing charm that doesn’t exist everywhere and is impossible to duplicate. Another track where I spent a good bit of time with my dad watching racing is gone.
FanDuel TV (TVG) also closed its chapter today. I worked with many of the people who signed off today for the final time. I’m heartbroken for all of them. I may work for TwinSpires, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know what is important. TVG Network was great for horse racing and I will miss those broadcasts immensely. Thank you to everyone at the network who brought racing to our television for the last 27 years. Your contribution to horse racing has been immense and I hope that contribution continues for each of you in the weeks, months and years to come.
@Starks43@BklynBckstretch@EJXD2 So the NBA gets hate because 70% of NBA rosters are made up of black players, but the NFL is one of the most beloved leagues in the world and 70% of NFL rosters are made up of black players.
In other words, the NBA doesn’t get hate because 70% of the league is black.
@BklynBckstretch@Starks43@EJXD2 What those individuals pursued is far different than choosing to root against an American team, in this case because of actions or decisions made that had nothing to do with them.
Of course I rooted for the women’s US teams. I don’t assign politics to specific teams that represent their country based on what players/coaches or politicians have to say about them. Should I know longer root for the Giants because of Steve Tisch? Where does it end? Sports used to be a distraction from all this stuff. People and politicians turning it into something beyond what it has always been is my problem.
Because you’re an American. If the Rangers were headed to Game 3 of the Stanley cup Finals, tied 1-1 and a suspension of a key Rangers player for that game was overturned would you get on a soapbox and say “Go, Golden Knights.” Any attempt to equate this to politics or any other “cause” is nonsense. It’s a damn soccer game. Root for your country or don’t root at all.
To see Americans on this app actively rooting against the United States because they somehow equate what happened with Balogun’s red card to American politics is one of the more pathetic things I’ve seen.
Thoroughly enjoyed Mary’s work and deeply appreciated her love and admiration for racing. This is absolutely tragic. Sincerest condolences to her friends and family.
