78-Year-Old DoorDasher’s Struggle on Camera Sparks Nearly $1 Million in Kindness

In Manchester, Tennessee, Brittany Smith saw 78-year-old Richard Pulley slowly climbing her steps on her doorbell camera to deliver a Starbucks order.

Moved, she posted the video on Facebook to find him. The community identified Pulley, who had returned to DoorDash with his wife Brenda after she lost her job—to cover bills and her expensive kidney medications. Smith launched a GoFundMe.

It raised over $550K in days and nearly $1 million total from tens of thousands of donors. The couple can now retire comfortably.

A powerful reminder of compassion in action.
