Ok, this is a personal rant on @bookmyshow , and it’s been a long time coming.

Being the country’s premier ticketing platform isn’t just a business position. It’s a responsibility. You’re the gateway between a fan and their idol, their artist, that one night that means everything to them. That kind of trust deserves better than what BookMyShow has become.
Time and time again, they’ve let fans down. The @coldplay debacle should’ve been a forcing function, a moment to plan better, build better, be better. And yet? Same bloated platform, same broken experience. Because why fix what isn’t broken for you? As a monopoly (@district_india is catching up, but slowly), they have zero incentive to innovate as long as they keep milking payment gateway fees, from a genuine fan or a scalper running hundreds of accounts across different IPs, it’s all the same to them.

And here’s the part that really gets me BookMyShow isn’t just failing fans. It’s actively working for scalpers. The randomised waiting room algorithm, the very mechanism built to shield the platform from bots, is being gamed and rinsed by the exact people it was designed to keep out.

This isn’t a skill issue. There are brilliant engineers inside BookMyShow, I have no doubt about that. This is complacency in its purest form. The kind that festers when you have no real competition breathing down your neck. The monopoly is the problem. And until that changes, fans will keep losing.
