@Maplenormer@ItsLulu_7 what if a ban makes them more profits for example intellectual property rights
also sanctions lower competition domestically so more profits for the nations own firms, which is why companies lobby the government for them to sanction foreign rivals
@Maplenormer@ItsLulu_7 you arent really making a convincing argument, just saying ‘sanctions cannot cause death’ is not an argument
ur just avoiding because you know uou are wrong
@Maplenormer@ItsLulu_7 basically ran out because they couldnt import anything
so sanctions have and continue to cause death, nobody arguing in good faith could say that sanctions dont kill people, its just not a position that people hold because its simply wrong
@Maplenormer@ItsLulu_7 they imposed sanctions on iraq after the gulf war as a condition for saddams compliance, iraq was completely bombed to shit and couldnt rebuild by themselves, due to the sanctions they couldnt get supplies in to rebuild so the whole country was drinking dirty water and their food
@stephenvmckenna@patriach2051 because google is showing you socdem countries, like i just said
how can there be corporation tax when private property doesnt exist, that doesnt make any sense
name an example of a country which all these things you claim has happened
@stephenvmckenna@patriach2051 it doesnt, unless you think the socdem countries are socialist
socialism is the collective ownership of the means of production, nothing to do with taxes
@Maplenormer@ItsLulu_7 most of these sanctions are against socialist countries or threats to the US, protecting US and global capital
sanctions can kill people, unilateral sanctions can cut off access to medicine and stop them from importing life saving drugs, this is happening in cuba
@Maplenormer@ItsLulu_7 30 million people have died from united states sanctions alone in the last 50 years and they have spent 93% of their history at war, thats only the US
@NunesMigs@GeistJames719@omgsidewalks https://t.co/jogMcVB9uz
except this study shows socialist countries are better at infant mortality, life expectancy, daily per capita calorie supply, population per doctor and nurse, literacy rate, education enrolment and overall quality of life
so idk about ‘no upside’
@NunesMigs@GeistJames719@omgsidewalks the kibbutz didnt end up being authoritarian, they just privatised them, idk where you got that from
there has also been many non-authoritarian societies, although lots of them end up collapsing because external destruction, namely catalonia and the paris commune
@NunesMigs@GeistJames719@omgsidewalks i never said it was a utopia, my claim is that cuba under castro is better than batista and this is the evidence for it
i would blame the authoritarianism and not the socialism, although you probably think they are the same thing
