@ATXVideos There's a very shady "game room" two lots east of here that has been raided multiple times. For some reason the city continues to let it operate.
@data_atx This was a huge issue for us when we lived on the east side. We were surrounded by vacant lots. Some owners would try and help but others refused to do anything. Even with a supportive owner, the process to get a no trespassing order in place and enforced was a hassle.
#BREAKING: Austin City Council Members Vanessa Fuentes and José Velásquez, Mayor Pro Tem José "Chito" Vela and Travis County Attorney Delia Garza issued a joint statement saying they support renaming Cesar Chavez Street.

Atlassian went all in on remote work in a way that can’t be walked back. The Austin office was nothing more than a place for an occasional free lunch. Now it’s being shut down.
Atlassian are building a 40 storey building in the Sydney CBD and struggling so sublease all of the empty floors in it. And are deep in the hole with the developer for a 15 year lease. Lmao. Idiots.
Our Freedom City policies reduce the number of arrests for low level offenses such as possession of marijuana and driving without a license. These help all Austinites but especially immigrants for whom this type of arrest can lead to ICE detention.

That part of downtown would be better used for private development. It could be an extension of the Rainey st area. Instead it's a dead zone useful only for providing cushy jobs to local grifters.
This is one of the biggest ongoing scandals in Austin
The convention center was sold to us as a massive driver of tourism and a benefactor of the arts
Yesterday a commissioner went off on that because the Hotel tax numbers haven’t dipped at all since center has been closed
There is one group of right-wingers on Twitter saying Austin is a giant homeless camp shithole and another group that says it’s a paradise of freedom, prosperity and beautiful people. Joe Lonsdale is in both groups.
Long overdue. Immigrants bring down wages in academia to the point where talented Americans don't even bother because we have better options.
I got my PhD at UT Austin and was discouraged from trying to stay in academia due to extremely low wages and poor working conditions
Texans come first.
I’m directing state agencies and universities to freeze new H-1B visa petitions. Texas taxpayers invest billions to train our workforce. Those jobs should go to Texans.
Texas is the strongest economic engine in America. We’re going to keep it that way.

Abundance liberalism is completely doomed. Ezra would be better off joining the Republican Party and convincing GOP governors to own libtard mayors and city councils by taking away their land use controls.
An under appreciated fact is that the City of Austin had much better leadership when local elections were held in May and it was an all at-large city council.
@mdahmus Too bad voters elected the most progressive candidate in almost every council race. Happy to see prop q fail, but nothing is going to improve.
