Today in Arusha-Tanzania, the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption (AUABC) and Global Financial Integrity (GFI) @IllicitFlows, officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding—cementing a two-year partnership into concrete action, to strengthen the fight against illicit financial flows and corruption in Africa. The @AUABC_ Chairperson, @HonEdemSenanu represented the Board while @IllicitFlows was represented by Mr. Phillip Nyakundi Gichana, the Policy Director-Africa. This MoU marks a decisive step forward for financial integrity and transparency across the continent. 🌍✍🏿 #StopIFFs #AfricaAgainstCorruption
The main mandate of the Board is to promote and encourage the adoption of measures and actions by State Parties to prevent, detect, punish and eradicate corruption and related offenses in Africa as well as to follow-up on the application of those measures and submit a report to the Executive Council on a regular basis on the progress made by each State Party in complying with the provisions of the Convention.

The conclusion is unequivocal: effectively combating corruption demands adequate resources and the accelerated implementation of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption (#AUCPCC).
The priority is twofold—reinforcing long-term prevention strategies and intensifying dialogue with Member States to achieve universal ratification, underpinned by strengthened technical capacity.

Le Général Joseph Kenyatta a indiqué que sous le leadership du président @GeneralNeva le #Burundi reste déterminé à combattre la corruption sous toutes ses formes.@AUABC_
