BP returns to investing more in drilling crude and relying on fossil fuels as it pulls back from investing in renewable energy. Total Energies which renamed itself and wrote down its crude fields in Canada to zero in 25 years a few years ago began the about face. Profits were taking a hit and politicians who care little about the environment are in the ascendancy.
Oil producing countries can plan to indulge more and deepen Dutch disease. Is the planet still imperiled? The Pope who wrote Laudato Si is in hospital.
Garret Hardin, the Ecologist, who wrote The tragedy of the Commons in 1968 will understand but will the future treat these times kindly.
