Today’s session on “Revisiting Climate Justice” concluded the Pre-AFSD 2026 Regional Webinar Series with discussions on climate justice in the Arab region amid war, geopolitical tensions, energy volatility, and deepening inequalities.
The discussion highlighted how climate change is not only an environmental issue, but one deeply connected to questions of justice, sovereignty, displacement, food and water security, labour rights, and unequal economic systems. Speakers emphasized the urgent need for alternative development pathways rooted in sustainability, rights, accountability, and just transition frameworks that place people and communities at the center.
