PhD Auditory and Visual Neurophysiology. Postdoctoral research fellow working on clinical research projects covering a number of areas of hearing research.
*Celebrating 🍾💫 Congratulations to colleague @PollyScutt medical statistician at @UoNHearSci who has passed her PhD viva today! She looked into approaches used in randomised controlled trials in Pt with or at risk of dementia https://t.co/BqiaF8qMBp Congrats Dr Scutt🎉 @UoN_STU
Have you seen hands-on signing in practice?
Leanne is deafblind and uses it with her partner, Guy. This #DeafblindAwarenessWeek, watch how she places her hands over Guy's to follow what's being communicated through touch and movement. 👐
The move to remote working was a big adjustment, but it presented extra challenges for deaf people and people with hearing loss.
Here are some tips from RNID's @RebekahMcKinst1 and @JesalVishnuram to make your meetings more accessible, via @CharityComms.

@scammell66 I am older but don't feel like that - For the TfL it's not about pay - they want to keep the staffing to pre-pandemic levels for safety reasons. Stations are unmanned and if anything happens there’s nobody on those stations. Also having to work nights (not in their contract) etc
Auditory cortical plasticity after cochlear implantation in asymmetric hearing loss (Karoui et al, 2022) https://t.co/2GWIPFNgqa @CHUdeToulouse@CORTEXjournal Cochlear implant enables reconstruction of the cortical mechanisms of spatial selectivity needed for sound localisation
Do you know any 8-16 year olds with severe-to-profound hearing loss? They can be helping out @BEARS_CI https://t.co/5kkvPvZbqA this summer with an online survey & changing the future of those with bilateral cochlear implants!Register https://t.co/ttXis7rUa5 @sarahsomerset1 Pls RT
It's #worldhearingday today. @hearingnihr has been looking at single-sided deafness (SSD) and identifying which core outcomes should be measured and reported on in SSD treatment studies. More on @CROSSSD_ here: https://t.co/nZz6hvNU2n #safelistening#hearingcare
The Core Rehabilitation Outcome Set for Single-Sided Deafness (CROSSSD) initiative is NIHR funded. We gathered opinions from healthcare users & professionals in the field of #SSD to agree on important measures to assess in clinical trials for #SSD interventions @NIHRresearch
Systematic review of outcome domains and instruments reported by studies that evaluated rerouting / restoring interventions for #SSD in adults @hearingnihr
>Findings emphasise the need to improve trial design and reporting in this area of health research
