Yes - current science proves the value of greeting each student by name, learning via trial and error, making mistakes/getting feedback, and reading as a whole brain activity. The marshmallow test? Did anyone ask whether these children were hungry? Physical needs come first!

Creating a safe, independent environment takes work. We have to watch & listen to each child carefully so we don't assist/ interfere with the child who doesn't need us, DO help the child who needs us, and can tell the difference between them.

@profgennari @edutopia There are not enough Montessori schools, especially elementary and higher . . . it's good to see that public and other "traditional" schools are implementing these practices - free choice, longer, deeper studies, collaboration, mentoring, student-led, ungraded, open-ended, etc.
