Beyond Doug Ford's defunding of universities and colleges, behold the ideological obsessions driving his meddling on campuses across Ontario. My wknd column: https://t.co/tbmjd7boYO
Embarrassing that Ontario continues to underfund its post-secondary institutions. This is intentional and deliberate. 10k workers without jobs; 600 programs slashed - shame!
Solidarity with @OPSEU and these workers. Students and workers united!
“The college sector is already seeing real people lose real jobs, and the effects of that are going to reverberate across the economy far more directly than still-theoretical EV plants.” — @jm_mcgrath#onpoli https://t.co/NyIVKiNOaO
Remember a few months back when Doug Ford said he'd do everything in his power to protect Ontario workers?
Well here's at least 10,000 broken promises...

Today marks the start of National Accessibility Awareness Week (NAAW)! We applaud the great strides our communities have made to make society more inclusive and accessible for more people. Of course, much remains to be done, but let's take this week to celebrate.
Yesterday, hundreds of OPSEU/SEFPO members working in Ontario’s colleges hit the pavement to highlight the provincial funding crisis. Members are standing up against cuts on their campuses, including at George Brown, Loyalist, Mohawk, and St. Lawrence, colleges. #OnPoli#OnLab
Ontario’s colleges will narrowly avoid a strike this term: faculty signed a MOA today with significant benefit gains, particularly for their 75% precarious membership, and has agreed to resolve outstanding items in med-arb. #OnLab#OnPoli

Our post-secondary institutions should not be dependent on international students to stay afloat. This is why I presented an petition to permanently increase funding to post-secondary institutions instead of balancing the books off the backs of international students. #onpoli
Today, we made history with the largest College Faculty strike mandate vote in a generation. 76.1% of over 15,000 members cast ballots and 79% of members voted “yes” to authorize strike action, if necessary, in reaching a fair deal. #OntEd

Embarrass the College and still receive a lucrative extension from the Board of Governors. Of course, all that matters is how much money you can bring in. Teaching and learning conditions are far down the list of concerns.
