🚨 NEW: #Beyoncé is being placed within a centuries-long history of women who transformed performance, culture and the meaning of the “diva.”✨

Beginning October 4, the Denver Art Museum (@DenverArtMuseum) becomes the exclusive U.S. home of DIVA, the major international exhibition created by London’s Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A).

Featuring more than 200 objects, nearly 60 costumes and almost 100 performers, DIVA traces the evolution of the term from 19th-century opera through theater, dance, Hollywood and modern popular music.

The exhibition moves from figures including Maria Callas, Marian Anderson, Josephine Baker and Marilyn Monroe into the modern era, with Beyoncé among the artists representing the evolution of the diva into a broader cultural force.

The Denver presentation has also been reimagined with new loans from Beyoncé, and features her in the “Run the World” section examining performers whose influence extends beyond music into business, entertainment and philanthropy.

In November, that examination continues with The Diva as Cultural Revolutionary: Art, Agency, and the Politics of Performance, a museum lecture exploring how artists including Beyoncé have used performance to challenge ideas surrounding race, gender, power and representation.

From the opera houses of the 1800s to Beyoncé in the 21st century, DIVA documents how the role has evolved from celebrated performer to cultural force capable of reshaping the world around her.

DIVA runs October 4, 2026 through January 31, 2027.
