The Director General of Mogadishu Port, H.E. @AmbAmerico, was part of the official delegation led by the Minister of @MoPMTSomalia, H.E. @Amohamednur and witnessed the signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement with his counterpart from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. @SalehAlJasser.

The agreement, which focuses on maritime transport and port development, represents a significant step toward enhancing strategic cooperation, advancing shared interests, and strengthening the longstanding brotherly relations between the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The forum focused on advancing bilateral trade, promoting investment opportunities, and strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations. The event was officially inaugurated by Somalia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Amb. Gamal M. Hassan.

The Port of Mogadishu remains a cornerstone of Somalia’s economic development and a strategic gateway for regional trade.

Somalia has also formally entered the era of transshipment. Following the launch of a direct Colombo-Mogadishu service, the port successfully executed its first transit operation, transferring cargo between MSC Silver II and MSC Malin II.

The delegation included Ms. Myriam Ferran, Deputy Director-General for International Partnerships, Mr. Luca Miehe, Head of Cabinet to the EU Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Mr. Jonas Jonsson, Head of Division for Eastern Africa and the Horn at the European External Action Service, Ms. Saffia Diop, Team Leader for the Horn of Africa, DG International Partnerships, & Ms. Caroline Adriaensen, Head of Cooperation, EU Somalia.

The visit featured productive discussions on the New Mogadishu Port project and the Government’s broader maritime vision.

The Minister of @MoPMTSomalia H.E. @Amohamednur Received today in his office a high-level delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Durmuş Ünüvar, who arrived in Mogadishu on the 27th of this month.

The meeting, attended by officials from the Ministry as well as the Director General of @MPortAuthority, H.E. @AmbAmerico, began with a formal welcome, after which both sides held extensive discussions focusing on strengthening cooperation between the two countries. The talks specifically covered maritime affairs, economic cooperation, the development of port infrastructure, defense and security, energy, and the enhancement of strategic services related to maritime transport.
