When we take the time to be intentional with the language we use with children our language will grant them positive affirmation, curiosity, and bravery.
The goal should be to dismantle the systems that were created that gave white folx opportunity and access which in turn resulted in the education debt (Gloria Ladson Billings) that is owed to Black children and families.

I wonder if they were given time to reflect and think critically about anything. I’m going to guess no because if it was they would be part of the solution and not the problem. They would be fighting for change, as well.
When you honor their critical thinking that will lead you to honor change. I wonder if the curiosity of the folx who say “I don’t see color” or “All lives matter” was honored as a child. I wonder if their questions were valued.
When you honor a child’s curiosity that will lead you to honor their questions. When you honor their questions that will lead you to honor their reflections. When you honor their reflections that will lead you to encourage their critical thinking.
You are responsible for your own happiness. Stop expecting other people to fill a void or satisfy your every need. Work on yourself so you can be your own source of happy.
We all have moments when we get knocked down. It’s okay to be disappointed. It’s even okay to shut down. Just don’t stay there. Take a deep breath and push yourself to keep moving. #honeyism
