⚠️Each year, millions of devices end up as #ewaste — wasting critical raw materials like lithium, cobalt & copper.
♻️At #UNIDO, we see e-waste as a resource for #CircularEconomy innovation, green jobs & sustainable industry.
🌍Let’s turn waste into opportunity.
Your hard work won't get you promoted. Read that again.
I learnt this the hard way, so you don't have to.
I was working on a multimillion pound construction project with over 500 people on site. As one of the site engineers, I managed two of the biggest work packages.
I knew 200+ colleagues by first name.
In my years in UK construction, I had picked up bits of European languages. It helps me connect better.
I took the job personally. I was always the first in and last out.
My shift was only 10 hours, but the night shift crew were always sure I would be there to hand over to them at night and take briefing from them in the morning.
Appraisals were great. I even won two awards for performance. I thought my results were speaking for me.
So when new opportunities opened, I expected my name to be called.
Instead, the company hired new section engineers (the next role above me), and I had to show them the ropes.
It happened several times. I was hurt, so I started looking elsewhere.
When I got a new offer, I spoke with my manager, he said: "You never asked."
He thought I was happy where I was.
That was my wake-up call.
Performance is not enough.
Everyone knew me, Visibility is not enough.

I always thought Kelechi Iheanacho would come good in the latter stages of this tournament. I just wasn’t expecting it to be a winning penalty.
We took it for granted that a player who hadn’t been involved for 5 straight matches and mostly sat through the 6th would come up and despatch a high pressure penalty kick like it was a routine. It’s no routine. It takes heart. It takes class. 📷 @67Kelechi
It breaks my heart that whenever I am in mainland Europe and even in the UK, most of the black people I see in hotels and official buildings including the courts are either cleaners or security guards.
When you try to greet them, they look away and it does spoil my mood. A lot of black people are doing exploits and it is not the end of the road for the people I mentioned above. I used to be a lively cleaner on the London Underground and there is dignity in labour.
Who did this to us?🤷🏻♂️Please greet your people. Help can come to you from there.
This family moved to the UK last year. Wife studying, husband looking for work. Husband did cscs, smsts added with his existing qualifications, he got a job with sponsorship in the council. Now the wife got a job in the same council. They offered her sponsorship, too.
Seeing people breakthrough gives me joy. You can see the first email and understand the state of mind of hope, of trying to push, of some doubt.
May God help us. It is not easy, but it is possible.
I will continue to share every knowledge I get along the way.
We are winning together ❤️🙏
I interviewed for a role in a massive Tier 1 construction project one time. The MEP package was behind. The last question the interviewer asked me was, "How good are you working under pressure?"
Me: I am the first child of an African family. That's pressure. I have been chasing scholarships from the age of 5. My books would be used to home school my siblings, and others. You can imagine the pressure.
I didn't get home before I was told I got the job.
I won two gold jackets on the job for performance.
Every story has been told apart from your story. Dont forget to tell it.
May God bless us ❤️🙏
By the way, I am always sharing and teaching everything I learn on the way. Personal development tips, scholarship opportunities, Work Permit Opportunities around the globe, financial education, and many more. Please hit the follow button and let's grow together!♥️
At the peak of Sapa, I told God, if you bless me, I will not forget my parents.
The car Dad used for taxi broke down 3 times. He couldn't even pay the money he borrowed to repair the car. It broke down again.
Then he became a personal driver to someone, lost that job as well. Someone introduced him to network marketing, Neolife(GNLD). I was his first downline. I will be wandering around trying to sell supplements. Some friends will call me Wale Oloogun😂.
We didn't qualify for Neolife travel rewards, but when things turned around several years later, we put them on the plane for the first time. Nothing tops that experience.
May God give us the patience and faith to see through tough times. You have not seen your best days yet. Don't stop believing. God's blessing is coming 🙏❤️
Please share 🙏

Got her first DM in May 2022. She came to UK to study project management, and her family came with her. She attended a space and we spoke about internship. She followed through and shared this with me this week.
Congratulations my sister. This is just the beginning ❤️🙏
A person close to me just landed a £250 a day job in construction (he has about 9 years of experience in the industry). We had already talked and celebrated before, but he called me again tonight to thank me for my support.
I was like "Baba kosi wahala se, we dey together" There is enough in the global economy to go around, last time I checked it was close to $100 Trillion.
WAGMI in a matter of time. O sure ju if we dey patient❤️🙏
Never stepped into a club in Nigeria before, but as a student in London, I worked in some high-end nightclubs like Boujis, Maggies, these are places where you see members of the Royal Family, Premier League footballers and proper old British money party
The main theme was to have fun, no name hyping, you could request music from DJ. Shey na DJ like Pete Tong worth like £20m go hype you. He came to play a few times. Some are also there to close business deals, etc.
A senior Goldman Sachs banker once gave me(a cleaner) his card that we should catch up during the day. I had a number of invites like that.
We really don't need to put "I better pass my neighbour" mentality in every part of our society.
I shared this video in May, this is a child stocks and shares ISA account with Vanguard. This family opened this account for their child in 2020, putting money every month. The picture shows how much the account is worth today.
This is an example of a good financial plan for children. We must not be left behind. Below are some good resources to read up on. We will do another live session on this soon.

I saw this email I sent to McGill University in Canada and another school 19 years ago about the application process. We left no stone unturned. There was no one to show us around, we were from the trenches. Our parents didn't even know how to use the Internet but we saw it as a tool that would change our lives and it did. We felt studying abroad shouldn't be for the rich alone, let's give it a try.
We applied everywhere, UK, US, Germany, Canada. Not a lot has changed since then. People are still getting scholarships and opportunities to study abroad every year.
I get surprised when people ask questions like "what are the admission requirements?". The school has a website, and the admission office has a phone number and email. Contact them, they are there to answer your questions
People are even getting jobs these days. The ball is in our court now.
We must keep pushing and work on our plans.
Great things are possible. ❤️🙏
