@agraybee Was a bit of a recurring youtube trend along side the canned burgers that were sold on similar camping/suvrvivalist sites. Ashens has a vid from like a decade ago of a different brand.
@kagatoASUKA89@K__Med The studio is like 30 people and is independently owned and operated by one of those people. If Annapurna closed shop tomorrow they would just find a new publisher or possibly reduce the scope of their next game a little and self publish. That's still indie.
@kagatoASUKA89@K__Med Usually licenses tend to scale up and down depending on who owns it, who's asking, what song they're trying to get and what the project is. 1979 (900m listens on spotify) will cost more than Love (12m). Same with 100m budget game vs. let say 5m (it's likely way less than that).
@humblethirstfo1@ethangach Yeah seems like people are just addicted to any conspiracies lately.
Apparently billionaires are trying to control the game industry by overtly funding quirky indie games and high reviews scores for them instead of just like buying out major publishers and developers.
@nickjcal@garsedj You can tell none of these people have bothered to look into Galvatron. He pretty much already lived out that fantasy years before becoming a game dev.
@Gamegodtre76161@Colteastwood@VitoComedy it scales with the project budget actually, but sure lets just go with that. 30 actors, including the developer who is unlikely in sag, assuming one day since the game is really short. So just over 200k max if music and development was similar so about 600k at the high end.
@Gamegodtre76161@Colteastwood@VitoComedy Fair enough. Was likely the effect of being published by someone with ties to the movie industry. Though I think your sadly way overestimating how much an actor like Weathers gets paid for work like this. Just cause you recognize a name doesn't mean they're in demand.
@Gamegodtre76161@Colteastwood@VitoComedy No? Because that was a 3d open world game from a veteran celebrated director and a sequel to a recognizable game series. Not something that looks like a really really high end newsground game. did you not look up artful escape?
@Gamegodtre76161@Colteastwood@VitoComedy Yeah he did. because he like wanted to support his kids random projects. If he wanted to take over the game industry using indie games getting bought out reviews or whatever the conspiracy is. He instead could just close Annapurna and buy Ubisoft or something.
@Gamegodtre76161@Colteastwood@VitoComedy There not spending billions though. they are mostly funding very small very cheap games. 200mil is probably not even the development budget of the past decade of their releases. It was probably just burning money hiring friends and stuff. who were the ones who ended up leaving.
@Gamegodtre76161@Colteastwood@VitoComedy your kind of overestimating a first time developer making an indie game. the failed kickstarter he did was only for 35k. even with him expecting to get more money the game was just a passion project made for as little money as possible. Mixtape might be close to that though.
@Gamegodtre76161@Colteastwood@VitoComedy It's honestly far more likely he just doesn't give one solitary fuck about it. That kind of money is pocket change for him and nothing they do is worth enough to be worth his time. If he wanted control of the game industry or whatever he could literally just by a bigger publisher
@Gamegodtre76161@Colteastwood@VitoComedy according to Wikipedia it was made for around 50k and made around 750k on Steam alone. That's what matters for a single player game by tiny indie studio. Concurrent player counts only matters for games like concord that need to have a decent consistent online player base.
@Gamegodtre76161@Colteastwood@VitoComedy Yeah so that would could mean nothing or something. Mixtape was picked up years before that happened due to the relative success of his previous game the artful escape. Won't know what changes, if any, they will make in what they published for a while.
@DaniloMatias@Colteastwood The people your talking about did not likely work on any of those games actually. because they were employees of the publisher. Those games were made by separate independent game studios.
@SamuraiKillR@Colteastwood The exact same nepo baby published all of those games. Mixtape was just made by a australian guy who was in band for years, and the nepo baby published it just like they did his previous game the artful escape.
@Gamegodtre76161@Colteastwood@VitoComedy She didn't make Mixtape either. Johnny Galvatron's studio beethoven & dinosaur did same with the artful escape. takes like 5 seconds to find that out.
@Vino22608670888@Colteastwood The point he is making is that every single one of those games were publish by annapurna, which was founded by the oracle ceo's daughter. mixtape's studio was started by an unrelated australian guy whose first game was also published by them without any controversy.
