All my life I've seen pro painters talk about "values" by desaturating in Photoshop, and turns out it's one of the most widespread mistake: this is the wrong way to assume values, as the maths are wrong, and let me show you why:

Had this conversation with a student who was being hard in themselves for not having their portfolio at the same level as a working professional . I had to explain that these take a bit of time and they also have access to lots of resources that a beginning student does not .
