Droppers who scored, say, 70–80% or less in Class 12 but spent one or two years preparing and then achieved 600+ or 700+ in NEET would still be held back by their old board marks, even though they demonstrated excellent medical aptitude later.
Tamil Nadu has opposed NEET from the beginning. The state has consistently argued that admissions to medical courses should be based solely on higher secondary (Class 12) board examination marks.
Some interesting developments have emerged on this issue.
India Today reports that the Central Government is considering giving 50% weightage to board marks and 50% to the entrance exam for admissions linked to both NEET and JEE.
I’m not an expert on education.
But I believe this issue will be widely discussed and debated.
@OpIndia_com 1. Different boards different level different checking rules nd syllabus not same
2. Droppers will be affected bcz they have already passed 12th nd cannot alter or improve their board marks, even if they scored less in board but worked hard in drop year, it's too much unfair

@dmuthuk Boards marks weitage implementation shouldn't happen as the checking varies across different boards nd examiners nd what about droppers who have already passed their 12th nd have worked hard for an year to secure a top govt medical or engineering seat They can't reverse 12 marks
@IndiaToday Bhai please mat karo ye bakchodi, boards ka koi relation nhi hai neet se
There are lakhs of students who got less in boards but improved in drop yr nd got top tier medical colleges with excellent ranks, aise droppers toh mar jayenge bhai
50% weightage of 12th board for JEE & NEET will lead to extraordinary burden on students. They would be required to score around 99% in 12th board and also get good JEE/NEET ranking.
@EduMinOfIndia is in never ending experiment mode.
@PMOIndia needs to fix it.
@sanjeevsanyal
@aliensince2006 like I m scared that what will happen next year
Fear of normalisation like it happened in cuet this yearNot fair with the students who worked very hard bcz if they get easy paper their marks will be deducted even if they score full nd even if they were prepared to do hard ppr

@NTA_Exams
Sir the biggest fear of neet 2027 aspirants is that it would be in CBT mode and what if in middle of the exam the computer system stops working or gets hanged or there is a server issue due to which the time of the student gets wasted ?
Are there any guidelines?
