Tribal families evicted from their forests. CAMPA funds meant to help them used to displace them. Gram Sabhas bypassed. Supreme Court orders defied. No office, no rank, no government order stands above human dignity. The human being comes first. #ForestRightsAct#TribalRights
Sri Aurobindo explains that our “mind” is not one unit but a series of layers- from the routine-bound physical mind and desire-driven vital mind to the emotional, intellectual and higher intuitive levels. Sri Aurobindo's mind in my article. Please have a read.
Glimpses from today’s ILDC ( India Land Development Conference)2025 session on Habitat Rights under the Forest Rights Act - Lessons, Challenges and Pathways Forward, hosted by Vasundhara.
It was an insightful discussion.
It is now imperative for the State Government to initiate the process of preparing management plans for all the PVTGs on habitat rights. My thoughts published on the editorial page of today's daily 'The Samaja'. Please take a moment to read it. @VasundharaO@stscdev@scstrti
The District Level Committee (DLC) under the Forest Rights Act (FRA) in Keonjhar has officially approved Habitat Rights for the Juang community covering 134 villages across 4 CD blocks. Following Deogarh and Jajpur District, Keonjhar becomes the third district in Odisha to take this significant step, marking a milestone in recognising and safeguarding the rights of indigenous communities. The decision was made during the District Level Committee (DLC) meeting held today, reflecting the District administration's commitment to empower tribal communities and protecting their traditional habitats. The Juang, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG), have long been the custodians of their ancestral lands, practicing sustainable living and maintaining a unique cultural heritage. We appreciate the efforts of @scstrti, District Administration, CSO partner @VasundharaO and @UNDP for their sustained efforts. #TribalRights #ForestRightsAct #JuangCommunity #IndigenousRights #CulturalHeritage #SustainableLiving #PVTG #Empowerment #Odisha

The true purpose of the Forest Rights Act (FRA) is not limited to granting individual titles. This law is a tool aimed at dismantling capitalist systems, empowering communities, and restoring their authority. It seeks to recognize the powers of the Gram Sabha.
First time in Odisha, Habitat Rights Patta for 32 villages in Barkote, Deogarh, granted to Paudi Bhuyan, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG). Chief Secretary Shri Pradeep Kumar Jena handed over the legal rights to land (Habitat Rights) under Forest Rights Act (FRA), marking a major achievement under the Mo Jungle Jami Yojana.

Humble tributes to Bharat Ratna #MotherTeresa on her birth anniversary. She was an icon of compassion and dedicated her entire life to serve the destitute and vulnerable. Her lifelong commitment to serve those who are unloved and uncared for, continues to inspire us.
