A proudly African, public-benefit organisation with over 20 years’ experience in leading the response, treatment and research efforts to eradicate TB and HIV.
What would it take to improve outcomes for the 96% of people affected by drug-sensitive TB?
Join Prof Charalambous, as she delivers the 2026 Heath Clark Lecture at the @LSHTM.
Drawing on decades of research and implementation experience, the lecture will explore why reported treatment success rates do not always reflect patient outcomes and what is needed to strengthen early diagnosis, treatment adherence, retention in care, and access to emerging treatment innovations for drug-sensitive TB.

THIS JUST IN: A major step forward for TB diagnosis.
Nearly 3 million near-point-of-care molecular TB tests will be rolled out across 13 countries through a @GlobalFund-led initiative, supported by @CIFFchild and implemented by Aurum.
As Aurum CEO Prof Dave Clark notes, “What is most powerful about this moment is not only the technology, but also the ability to reach people with TB where they are, at the very first point of care.”

Great news: A major step forward in the fight against TB, the world’s deadliest infectious disease: 13 countries are preparing to roll out new near‑point‑of‑care (NPOC) tests, supported by @CIFFchild, @AurumInstitute and the @GlobalFund.
“NPOC molecular testing can transform how countries detect and treat TB – bringing accurate diagnosis closer to communities and closing the diagnostic gap that has slowed progress for too long.” @PeterASands

Our Aurum Institute Ghana team proudly represented us at the @GHS_Network Conference 2026, showcasing research from Ghana’s One Health antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance programme supported through The Fleming Fund.
The team presented findings on antibiotic use and the genomic drivers of resistance across human, animal, and environmental samples, highlighting the importance of integrated surveillance in addressing one of the world's most pressing public health challenges.

Lenacapavir has officially arrived in 🇿🇦, marking a new chapter for HIV prevention.
Long-acting prevention has the potential to expand choice and support people in ways that better fit their daily realities.
But access will be key.
As conversations shift from approval to rollout, the focus now is ensuring this reaches communities in ways that are practical, equitable, and people-centred.
We’ve supported the journey from evidence generation to policy engagement and now into implementation.

This #HIVVaccineAwarenessDay, we recognise the continued importance of HIV prevention research and the role communities, researchers, and trial participants play in advancing it.
Dr. Craig Innes, Clinical Director within the Aurum Clinical Research Division, has contributed to multiple HIV vaccine trials in collaboration with the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) since 2012.
“HIV vaccine research has proved challenging, but steady progress continues to be made. Volunteering to participate in HIV vaccine trials helps drive the science forward and brings us closer to the reality of an HIV-free world.”
