Usually I don't post things older than the late Palaeolithic period, but #insects embedded in amber never cease to amaze me - the sheer age!
This larva of a praying #mantis enclosed in amber is some 30 million years old.

A superb account of how power works in this country, of the shambolic, rancid Morrison government, and of a Governor General who clings to office despite the ample evidence he should go. https://t.co/iXQoF4s9TJ via @SatPaper
Amazing photos coming out of the #Etruscan & #Roman finds at San Casciano dei Bagni - I think this is my favourite so far, fantastic to see such a well-preserved find emerging from where it has lain unknown for so long! (📷 Jacopo Tabolli/Universita per Stranieri di Siena/EPA)

Entrance gates to Sydney University on City Road Camperdown.
Just the Gardener's Lodge remains alongside the gates which is now a cafe. The University itself is now hidden beyond the trees.
