It's been a treat to watch the watershed wake up this year during our Teen Aquatic Stewardship program! Working with our partners @ Adirondack Mountain Club, we covered water chemistry, hydrology, riverbank restoration, aquatic organisms, leave no trace, & more.
We had a great time talking about aquatic insects with anglers at this year's Ausable River Two-Fly Challenge. 🤓 It's always fun hearing people "ooooo" and "ewwww" while peering at their favorite insects with a microscope.

For the fifth year in a row, we are partnering with Lake Champlain Basin Program to offer the Stream Wise program - free streamside assessments for landowners. It's easy to participate - just reach out to our Stewardship Manager [email protected] to learn more!

Carrie and Liz attended a benthic macroinvertebrate (aquatic insect) course in the mountains of NC. We're always grateful for the chance to learn and deepen skill sets in support of the research & habitat recovery work we're doing in the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain Basin.
Ausable Conservation Nursery & AdkAction are teaming up to offer native trees, shrubs, and perennial flowers at the Adirondack Pollinator Festival! Shop an array of native plants for your property. Purchases support the work of both AdkAction and AFC: https://t.co/A3cX33Cwvr
The willow catkins are bursting and the bees are a buzzing! Spring is here!✌️Native willow shrubs are easy to propagate from seed or cuttings & grow quickly, making them one of our top choices for replanting along rivers and streams to help secure the bank.
Alongside our collaborators @ Paul Smith’s College AWI, we gave the Mirror Lake buoy a spring spruce-up, data download & battery refresh. The buoy continuously records conductivity, temperature, & dissolved oxygen at multiple depths, providing insight into overall lake health. https://t.co/aG7pMbrHUZ

Big thanks to our 97 amazing volunteers for removing 2080 lbs of garbage from the Ausable River corridor! We are so grateful to everyone who joined us and our friends at the Town of Keene, Origin Coffee Co, Valley Grocery, and Casella Waste for making this awesome event possible.
We're hiring! AFC seeks an experienced development director to advance the organization’s mission and maximize the engagement of people who care about freshwater systems and their value for communities. Please see our website for details https://t.co/MrkZwBpVqL
Happy Earth Day! 💙🌎💚
🥀🌱As the landscape awakens this spring, we are energized for another field season and more opportunities to work alongside you, our community, to protect Adirondack freshwater ecosystems for generations to come. 💧💙
It's National Volunteer Week! Whether helping w/seed collecting, planting, watering, invasive species management, or river cleanups, our volunteers bring passion for the outdoors and can-do attitudes to every job. We appreciate you! Thanks for getting your hands dirty with us!
Thawing lake ice, combined w/ increasing surface temperatures and spring winds sets the stage for turnover, a natural process that brings oxygen down the water column, pushes cooler water up & distributes nutrients throughout the lake - very important for healthy aquatic habitat.
Love the outdoors? Looking for unique ways to help steward our local environment? Consider volunteering with us! We have a full slate of projects on tap this year. Fill out our Volunteer Interest form and you'll be the first to hear about them! https://t.co/f5Zxaxfh4e
We enjoyed participating in NASA's Earth-to-Sky workshop where we heard from experts about changing climate in the Adirondack Park. AFC's Phil Snyder shared information about NY's SCALE program. Stephen Langdon described ecosystem connections to the carbon cycle. Interesting!
