My landlord increased my rent by ₦250,000 and told me I had 30 days to pay or leave.

I was angry, but there was nothing I could do.

For three weeks I searched for another apartment. Nothing💔

Either the rent was higher or the place looked like it would collapse during heavy rain.

One afternoon I was packing some old boxes when I heard a knock.
It was the old woman who sold vegetables at the junction near my house.

We'd barely exchanged more than greetings for three years.

She looked at the boxes and asked,
"You're moving?"

I told her about the rent increase.
She was quiet for a moment and then left.

I thought that was the end of it.
The next morning, she came back.
She didn’t come alone. With her were six other traders from the junction.

One brought a plastic chair.
One brought a small table.
One brought a notebook.
I was confused.

The old woman opened the notebook and said,

“Read the names”
I looked down.
There were over fifty names.
People I knew.
The vulcanizer.
The woman who sold akara.
The pharmacy owner.
The security man from the next street.

Beside every name was an amount.

₦10,000.
I asked what it was.

The old woman looked offended.

Good morning all.

Attached herewith is a picture of an elderly man believed to be in his 70s.

He was brought to Langbasa Divisional Police Headquarters at about 2015hrs Wednesday 03/06/2026, by a civic minded commercial tricyclist.

He is hale and hearty but apparently suffers neurocognitive decline ie, dementia.

He can not remember his name, address or relatives and has no phone on him.

He also can not remember any phone number or useful information which may aid reunification efforts.

We are all by this notice, kindly enjoined to push his picture ACROSS ALL PLATFORMS in the hope that it may reach his relatives and or anyone with useful information about him.

Gas finished last night and the kids were craving shawarma, I was too. Hubby said to go out to get it for all of us with drinks for dinner, I punched my calculator to see how much it will cost for a family of 5.

I arrived at over 35k. 12kg gas now cost 24k, we would use it 4weeks at least. I chose gas over shawarma.

That is for a family where both partners work and earn decently. We couldn't even afford a basic treat without punching the calculator. Everything extra is now considered luxury

Now imagine the life of a child whose both parents are skilless, unemployed or earns meagerly.

I know many of you will come and ask if shawarma is food, no it's not but everyone deserves a treat once in a while.

We all know what we are doing but you people should fear Allah.
