Tonight, in partnership with @Refugees, Rwanda welcomed the 24th group of 177 asylum seekers from Libya originating from Sudan (68) Eritrea (66), Somali (2), Ethiopia (15) & South Sudan (26). They will be accommodated in Gashora Transit Center, that hosts other evacuees who arrived before.

Since September 2019, Rwanda has received over 3,000 refugees & asylum seekers from Libya. 2,681 of them have been successfully resettled in third countries; namely (297) Sweden, (927) Canada, (229) Norway, (332) France, (271)Finland, (94)Netherlands,(72) Belgium, (325) USA, (132) Germany.

Rwanda remains committed to offering refuge to people in need.

The ETM has saved the lives of 3097 people, of whom 2621 have since been resettled to third countries.

Clean cooking means safer families and a healthier environment.

In Mahama & Mugombwa camps, refugees use cooking gas as a safer alternative to firewood, reducing pressure on surrounding forests.

More resources are urgently needed to sustain cooking gas distributions in 2026.

Forced to flee South Sudan due to war, Achol's family spent 20+years traveling through Kenya, Egypt & Libya in search of safety.

The Protestant University of Rwanda offered scholarships to 30 refugees earlier this week, enabling them to start higher education journey at the university's Huye Campus.

These are not numbers,they're lives being transformed.

Today, 115 Burundian refugees from Mahama Camp were voluntarily repatriated to their home country through Nemba One Stop Border Post in @BugeseraDistr.

Since 27 August 2020, Rwanda, in collaboration with @RefugeesRwanda, has facilitated the voluntary return of 30,907 Burundian refugees.

Rwanda currently hosts 52,862 Burundian refugees; including 42,421 in Mahama Camp and the rest in urban areas, reaffirming the country’s commitment to ensuring protection and dignity for all refugees.
