@cozymysteryclub#12DaysofCozies Thanks, everyone! I had a blast tonight. I'm giving away paperbacks through the 12 Days of Cozies. Don't miss out! And you can find me at https://t.co/5ijRnXtbJQ.
@cozymysteryclub I grew up in West Virginia, so all my books are set there. I'm proud of my home state and want others to see it as I do. I purposely weave issues like out-of-state land owners and bias against Appalachians or talk about the area's history to show the love of my home.
@cozymysteryclub Ugh, start sooner. Don't get me wrong; it's NEVER too late. But I think about how much better I would be right now. Also, journal whether you like it or not. When I was younger, I couldn't imagine not remembering EVERYTHING. Ha! I would have so much to draw from if I had.
@cozymysteryclub The more you write, the more you learn. For me, taking classes or reading about writing wasn't as good as just writing. The more I write, the more I find my own style and figure out what works in stories and characters. Write write write.
@cozymysteryclub Dang. Good question. Has to be on book covers. My designer, Bailey, is phenomenal. Gives my River Sutton Mysteries a unique and appealing look.
@lorirobbins99@cozymysteryclub Good question! Keeping it believable and interesting. If there isn't a long story from book to book, and only murders to solve, readers won't be invested. Plus, you don't want to keep writing books if no one's interested. But each one has to wrap up on its own. Tricky!
@auntbopp@cozymysteryclub The detective series I'm writing--The Case of the Strangled Student--isn't cozy. It's on Vella. I just wanted to try something different with genre and the whole Kindle Vella thing. It's fun!
@auntbopp@cozymysteryclub I have a standalone paranormal cozy about a divorced woman who buys a Victorian fixer upper, but there's a ghost trying to get her attention. The Haunting of Ivy May.
@auntbopp@cozymysteryclub (2/2) In the first book, she comes home for her sister's summer wedding. In the second book, her high school's 100th homecoming. Third book, she's moved home for good. Of course, she winds up mixed up in murder investigations along the way.
@auntbopp@cozymysteryclub (1/2)River Sutton Mysteries is about a woman who comes back to her small hometown in West Virginia after working in the "big city." She reconnects with her family and finds out her high school crush, the Sheriff, had a crush on her, too.
@cozymysteryclub Yes! I've been writing a Vella murder mystery: The Case of the Strangled Student. Just dipping my toe into something different while I outline my next River Sutton Mystery. There's a new episode every week.
@cozymysteryclub π³ Yikes. I don't think so. Going for walks, showering, and driving seem to be the best times for inspiration. This sounds awful, but I'm too insecure to read very many cozy mysteries. π³ I don't want to read how much better other authors are!
