@erinplaw@drvyom@igairport This is awful. Most airport female toilets have vending machines for sanitary pads or tampons. I can't believe why there isn't anything in an international airport.
@RomanEagles@SharnelleVella@7NewsMelbourne Interesting that you consider those measures "draconian". It can only mean that your entire existence has been so full of privileges that the pandemic measures are considered "draconian". The people in Asia probably thinks you are all snowflakes.
The Premier has annonced a redress scheme and formal apology for Victorians who were abused while in the care of orphanages and children’s homes between 1928 and 1990.
‘Many of those people were appallingly treated. It has taken us time to get to this place.’ @7NewsMelbourne
Barnaby Joyce racked up $675K in expenses in 21 days as drought envoy. He says he sent texts to PM Scott Morrison who blocks FOI requests & refuses to hand over phone records.
Retweet if you want a forensic audit & a police inquiry with all documents made public. RU there ICAC?
@agessweina@Briggs@Skayegee If you don't know what systemic inequity looks like or have never experienced it, are you really qualified to talk about how to rectify it?
@nadinebh_ The British Empire created systemic and structural racism through colonisation, genocide and slavery. This structural racism continues to be upheld today. POC experience this on a daily basis. Prince Harry is only now giving a voice to the plight of the POC.
@rktres@agessweina@Briggs@Skayegee Let's also face the reality that inequities caused by colonialism continue to exist today. Real people are being impacted. My question is what are people doing about it? So what if you acknowledged that part of history? What's the use if you are not doing anything to change it?
@rktres@agessweina@Briggs@Skayegee Let's acknowledge that:
- Britain took the equivalent of $1 trillion worth of resources from India.
- Oversaw the transport of African people to the Americas as slaves.
- Systemically committed genocide on Indigenous people in the colonies.
Let reparations begin.
@rktres@agessweina@Briggs@Skayegee Trust me, many descendants of displaced people who experience inequities, racism, and classism today don't need people to acknowledge history, they need people to rectify the inequities. Britain colonised half the world, France the other half. That's not many countries, only 2.
@fromtherooftop1@Briggs In 1788, most of the world's population's life expectancy also wasn't very long. The fact that it is now but the indigenous people's life expectancy is still not very long today proves colonialism is destructive to the indigenous people.
