He battles with his inner conflicts, but he really does have a heart of gold. To me these scenes are right up there with Billy Flynn's when Abigail died.
@dwight604 @bogtrinkets Definitely a bad take, likely so stripped down considering they were on the Smothers Brothers. I doubt they'd have let Morrison stick to his usual style. The lighter arrangement makes him sound like he's forcing the lyrics, imo.
