The world is crying, Lee. “Just when everything seems to go along just fine, Life comes by and throws you its line.”
― Lee Bennett Hopkins, Been to Yesterdays: Poems of a Life

Kidlit writers/poets hop over to @MichelleHBarnes Little Ditty and take in what Karen Boss, an editor from Charlesbridge has to say. It's the boss. https://t.co/q5LCkTZsTW
And they won’t read them the way we write them to be read. Dang, it all. The best thing a rhyming writer can do, is listen to @joshfunkbooks, take @ReneeMLaTulippe’s class, The Lyrical Language Lab, and join Making Room for Rhyme, (you’ll find a great critique group there).
Rhyming picture books are NOT like songs. People will not hear them and be able to emulate the words the way the singer meant them to be sang.
People will be picking up your book cold - having never read it before - and they must be able to read it well.
