ਸਿਨਹਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ”ਇਹਨਾਂ ਫੌਜੀ ਤਿਆਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਦਰਭ ਵਿਚ ਜੇ ਸੰਤ ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਗੋਲਡਨ ਟੈਂਪਲ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਵਾਹ ਲਗਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਕਰਾਰ ਦੇਵੇ। ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਏ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਘਰ ‘ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਹਮਲਾਵਰ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਇਹ ਕਾਨੂੰਨਨ ਤੇ ਇਖਲਾਕੀ ਫਰਜ਼ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹਮਲਾਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋੜ ਜਵਾਬ ਦੇਵੋ। ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਹਮਲਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਘਰ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੀ। ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੋਲਡਨ ਟੈਂਪਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਫੌਜੀ ਹਮਲੇ ਦਾ ਹਥਿਆਰਬੰਦ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਾਇਜ਼ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਲੜ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।”

ਲੈ. ਜਨਰਲ ਐਸ. ਕੇ. ਸਿਨਹਾ ਨੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ‘ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਂਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਮੀ ਦਾ ਚੀਫ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਜਨਰਲ ਵੈਦਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਫੌਜ ਦਾ ਚੀਫ਼ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

ਸਿਨਹਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ”ਫੌਜੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕੋਈ ਆਖਰੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਇੰਦਰਾ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਵਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਫੌਜੀ ਹਮਲੇ ਦਾ ਫਤੂਰ ਇੰਦਰਾ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਦੇ ਦਿਮਾਗ ਵਿਚ 18 ਮਹੀਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਘੁੰਮ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।”
