Reports say rubber bullets and tear gas were deployed by Thai authorities around Sa Kaeo’s Ban Nong Ya Kaew, as they reportedly tried to control a situation where villagers in the Thai-Cambodian disputed area expressed aggressive dissatisfaction.
Media on both sides accused each other’s officials of violating sovereignty.
On the afternoon of September 17, 2025, Thai soldiers armed with shields, batons, and weapons continued their incursions into Cambodia by firing tear gas, rubber bullets, and using sound-disrupting devices that damaged hearing, targeting Cambodian civilians in Prey Chan village, O’ Bei Choan commune, Ou Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province. These actions caused injuries to several civilians, including Buddhist monks.
