@Autistic_Lia Autistic people can have nonstandard physical health risks / reactions to meds.
It's important Drs know that ND folks have higher risk of specific physical (eg heart, gut, autoimmune) issues and may not react well to usual treatments.
ND drug responses need much more research.
Physiological/medical differences are one of the fundamental arguments for knowing if you're ND I think.
Knowing we communicate differently is one thing. Knowing we may react differently to life saving treatment adds a whole new level.

Great short film from Laura-Lys Alvarez young #ActuallyAutistic filmmaker. Really captured how I feel - from the initial confusion to the sensory overload.

@Autism1o1 I learnt to take my glasses off. I can look happily at my fuzzy best guess location of their eyes and give the impression of eye contact without the pain. Perfect.
@AutisticCallum_ Good point, but... I'm #ActuallyAutistic and I write the criteria for the roles I hire.
It's usual for applicants to be scored on how they fulfill them.
I use keyword searches for the first pass because don't have time to read everything.
On the very first day of #AutismAcceptanceWeek we didnβt expect to need to make a statement about developments which show a profound lack of acceptance and understanding of neurodivergent people. But here we are.
@AutisticCoach_ My job is surveying plants and trees on nature reserves.
Me: I'm really lucky!!!
Also me: no I don't want to go for a walk in the countryside to relax. How about we go to your office and relax there?
@AutisticCoach_ My theory (please don't break it, it's my only consolation π) is that I'm slow to get going because I can't tolerate caffeine etc. Many people neck coffee and off they go. I need a longer run up to the day.
@AutisticCoach_ I've usually tried to be booked as autistic. Sometimes it doesn't make much difference, but occasionally me and anyone I'm with have been given VIP treatment and whisked past huge queues by helpful airport staff.
Does anyone have any good resources on navigating the social/emotional aspects of grief and bereavement while #Autistic? What to say to people?
Not legal/admin stuff, I got that, but what to say to work colleagues n stuff.

Back to work tomorrow.
Years ago, b4 realising I'm #autistic, I knew I needed a few days extra to recover after midwinter festivities. But I never new why I did and others didn't.
