@mum2aspergirl @StirAutism I really enjoyed your session. Struck me how the multiple stages and iterations made it a genuine conversation, minimising "leading" by the researcher, but still giving lots of time for reflection. Really thought provoking!
@HolSmale @Allymai_@thetimes It's scary how little any of us knew before autism "came into our lives" officially (despite actually probably being there for generations). Your article is great for helping others avoid the mistakes we made!
Amazing morning of sessions at #IARF21. Lovely to hear so many of my favourite follows here speaking in person and hear about their research and experiences!!
@APurpleLifeBlog I do think there's probably quite a bit of overlap between autism/ADHD/Dyslexia and FI too. Different wiring is a challenge but can also be freeing in a way.
@APurpleLifeBlog There are big overlaps for sure. It's an area where we know so little. It's genuinely exciting, I think, how much scope there is for greater happiness by helping people understand themselves better at a younger age!! It's nice to have hope 😊
@APurpleLifeBlog That's true I'm sure. I suspect we are both autistic and I think for autistic people sexuality often works a bit differently anyway. I think fewer of us are at the extremes! I wouldn't know where to start to describe mine so generally don't try 🥴
@awesomebrandi One of my formative experiences as a teen was watching my mum deal with helath problems stemming from starvation as a child. Easy to forget that this happened to people close to home and in living memory (and that it is happening to people all over the world right now).
@awesomebrandi I think it coloured my views of Europe/Brexit very strongly (as does having friends from Syria and Palestine). War feels terrifyingly close and possible to me, not some hypothetical construct that happens to other people.
#LISTEN is a short film made by and with nonspeaking autistic people, addressing dangerous stereotypes in media and creative works—and how to do better. #istandwithnonspeakers

@BooksandChokers As somebody who loved Spark and is excited to share it with my daughter when she's a bit older, I just want to thank you for putting up with this dreck and tell you I'm really looking forward to whatever you write next. You are doing SO MUCH GOOD IN THE WORLD. Thank you.
