Very excited to be speaking at the Wind Wildlife Research Meeting in sunny Texas this week. We will be speaking about our current work mitigating bat fatalities through acoustically triggered curtailment using @WildlifeAcoust SMART system. #bats#technology
BCI scientists have co-authored a paper evaluating bat senses and the stimuli from wind farms that may help explain why bats are fatally attracted to wind turbines. Millions of bats are killed at wind energy facilities worldwide. Future research should test reducing specific sensory pollutants from wind farms to reduce the threat of wind energy development to bats.
