@ArtemisConsort@EricLevitz But even in a utilitarian analysis, it's also part of my liberalism that being prohibited from voting would present severe disutility to women, and it's hard to think of any positive outcome that would outweigh that!
@ArtemisConsort@EricLevitz To me and probably a lot of liberals, universal suffrage is a terminal moral good, not something that can be justified or rejected on utilitarian grounds
@tenobrus I gave it a math problem on max effort and it hit max token length for the turn. After I hit the "continue" button I started getting raw CoT. Beautiful stuff. It seems to be having a lot of fun.
@panickssery@corsaren I haven't seen EEAAO so I can't comment on that. I can't stand Colbert or talk show humor. But I don't think I know what you mean by sentimental exactly. Driven by emotion? Sure, but it's a very broad palette of emotions. Or what?
@panickssery@corsaren He writes some of the most sublime essays I've seen, and he makes it look really fucking easy. It doesn't matter whether they describe some truth or make good arguments. That stuff is pedestrian. If you care even slightly about the written word you simply have to be in awe
@panickssery@corsaren This is like saying a Kandinsky is unworthy because it doesn't depict a pastoral waterfall scene. The glory of the language _is_ the point
@kitten_beloved Same experience, I spend a lot of time reading the dumb code the agent has written and telling it no, do it this way instead. Still quicker than doing it myself from scratch!
@mattyglesias@bscholl@kimmaicutler In the case of Stephen Miller it's not even a zero-sum worldview, it's an overwhelming unreasoned driving fury at the very idea of nonzero immigration
@littmath@slatestarcodex@souljagoyteller Another point is that AI can solve as many deep problems as you like, but without human mathematicians there's no one to understand the solutions. There's no point in AI proving the Riemann hypothesis if there are no humans left who know what RH is or why it's interesting
@openat4am@jbarro There is an overwhelming amount of content on youtube and figuring out what's actually practical and what's more aspirational is not necessarily easy
@matt86547114@jbarro So this is the pernicious thing! If you google "quick weeknight meals", you will get a lot of recipes that claim to be quick weeknight meals but are NOT
