In 1917, a young man helped sell World War I to the American public as "the war to make the world safe for democracy."

He was so effective that when he returned home, he realized something dangerous:

Ideas were more powerful than bullets.

His name was Edward Bernays.

He is the reason you think bacon and eggs is the ideal American breakfast.

A pork company hired him. He got 5,000 doctors to sign a letter saying a heavier breakfast was healthier for Americans. Bacon sales exploded overnight.

He is the reason women started smoking in public.

The American Tobacco Company wanted to double their market. Bernays paid women to march in the 1929 Easter Parade holding lit cigarettes, calling them "torches of freedom."

The press ate it up. Smoking became a feminist statement. Lung cancer in women skyrocketed for decades.

He wrote the first book on public relations. He taught the first university course on it at NYU. He coined the term "engineering of consent."

Hitler asked him to work for him. So did Franco. So did Somoza. He turned them all down.

But he said yes to every US president from Coolidge to Eisenhower.

His most famous political trick?

Calvin Coolidge was seen as cold and unlikable. Alice Roosevelt Longworth said he "was weaned on a pickle."

Bernays' solution: invite Al Jolson, the Dolly Sisters, and Broadway stars to breakfast at the White House.

The next day, every newspaper in America ran the story. The New York Times headline read: "President Nearly Laughs."

Coolidge won the election.

Bernays understood something most people still don't:

Canada's living standards are collapsing in a socialist doom loop.

The govt is trying to hide this by "growing" the economy with massive numbers of immigrants. However cramming millions of Bangladeshis into Toronto doesn't make for a more powerful first world city, it just turns the entire the city into the 3rd world also. Now they are all on welfare and the rent is higher for everyone.

Canada's GDP per capita was 94% of America's in 1981. Today it's 67%. The widest gap since World War II.

Ontario is now poorer than 43 US states. Including Louisiana and Alabama. This isn't a hiccup, it's a collapse.

From 2017-2024, US productivity grew 10.1%. Canada's fell 0.6%.

The US spends 3.4% of GDP on R&D.
Canada spends 1.7%.

Housing prices are 50% to 100% higher in Canada compared to the USA, meanwhile incomes are 30% lower.

Canadians spends 48% of their income on a mortgage. The average American: 34%.

Canada has talent, natural resources (oil, gas, minerals hydro), safe geography, rule of law. It should be one of the wealthiest countries on the planet.

What it doesn't have is a system that rewards being successful. It is a system being strangled by bad immigration policy, bad trade policies, massive regulations, woke DEI mind viruses and crushing taxes.

In 1975, during my first year as a science teacher in a country town in Australia, during the class dealing with human origins, I happened to mention that as a Christian, I believed all humans are descended from two people (Adam and Eve), and because of what happened after the flood—at the tower of Babel with the giving of different languages—families moved away from each other, forming different nations and cultures. I explained that all humans are one biological race and are related, and therefore, we’re all just one big family.

After the class, three Aboriginal students came up to me and asked if I could explain this in more detail. They were extremely interested in all I had to say. As I talked to them, I realized that Darwin taught in his book "The Descent of Man" that the Australian Aborigines were closer to apes than light-skinned people in the supposed evolutionary story of man. It is also true that scientists in England sent people to Australia to collect specimens of Aborigines to display in museums—and sometimes they were illicitly killed, all in the name of evolution! It’s a sad part of Australia’s history.

But what a difference it made to those students to learn that they were all part of the one big human family—and related to me, their classmates, and everyone else in the world, and certainly not to apes! Actually, the account of creation in the Bible fits much more with the Aboriginal culture than the evolutionary story did!

Ever since that time, I have had a real burden to teach everyone I can the truth about the one human race—that all humans belong to one race; all are related; all are one color but different shades of brown. So we all have the same problem, sin. God’s Son became a member of the one human race (as the God-man, the Lord Jesus Christ). Jesus died and rose again for the entire race, and he offers the free gift of salvation to all members of the one human race who will receive it.
