“Albertans trust their public libraries. Bill 28 creates new barriers to access, moves decision-making from local boards and trained professionals, and raises privacy concerns." #ableg#abpoli

“More than a dozen First Nations chiefs and even more band councillors and elders were at Alberta's legislature Monday, calling on Premier Danielle Smith's government to stomp out the push for the province to quit Canada.”

"This is the most significant book ban that's ever taken place in Canada"—James Turk on Alberta schools pulling 160+ books to comply with a provincial order.
He argues the move is driven by “some far-right parental rights groups."

Your choice, Albertans: You can believe Premier Danielle Smith or the Data "In 1992, Alberta had approximately 11,700 hospital beds. Today, with nearly double the population and a much older demographic, we have roughly 8,800. This is not an Ottawa or immigration problem."
Danielle:
Demanded more immigrant residents
Demanded a higher quota of temporary foreign worker visas
Demanded more student visas

Conservatives/Separatists screaming about “tyranny from the east” while cheering Premier Danielle Smith who says:
“Let us influence who becomes a judge or we’ll starve the courts of funding.”
That’s not conservative.
That’s authoritarian cosplay.
Judicial independence means politicians don’t get leverage over judges.
Once funding becomes conditional, the courts stop being neutral and start being compliant.
Then comes the greatest hits album:
• bilingualism = bad
• courts must reflect “provincial values”
• the U.S. system as a role model (lol)
If your political philosophy collapses unless you can pick the referees, it’s not democracy it’s a tantrum with a budget.
You don’t defend the Constitution by threatening it.
Read the letter.
Then explain how this isn’t exactly what you claim to hate.
Well, Premier.
1 million Albertans are food insecure.
1 million can’t afford their monthly housing rent or mortgage.
1 million don’t have a family doctor.
What do you say to these Albertans?
Tolerating always turns to resentment. At first, you call it patience, then love. But what it really is, is self-abandonment. Every time you swallow a boundary, excuse a pattern, or silence your discomfort, something inside you keeps score.
And eventually, the bill comes due.
