Been waiting to see the ‘coming of age’ game from a talented, high-upside RFA team for a while. On a night that started so rough for them, this just may have been it.

Down 11 in the 1st with an injury to a significant player, RFA responded in gritty fashion, took the lead in the 3rd, and withstood the top seed’s last push to punch a ticket to the Section 3 Class AAA finals.

Azmira Moncoeur and Zamora Council were great in the backcourt and had 19 & 15 points respectively to lead 4 in double figures for RFA. Riley Abernethy 22 and @ava_carpenter2 closed great HS chapter with 14 for Ludden/Grimes.

Focus of defensive attention throughout, just 4 pts thru 3 quarters, and @ava_carpenter2 had enough. Took control late, put pressure on the back line time & time again, and with the game all square in the final seconds, she said “let’s go home” ⏳

Competitive spirit shined bright. @EmborskyPaige got a winner ✔️

I had my “overtime fairy” tweet ready to rip… @ava_carpenter had other ideas.

Tied up at last call, Ava - who was bottled up early on - closed a big time 4th quarter with a tough drive & game-winning finish with :00.3 left on the clock. Expected an entertaining battle & it surpassed expectation 🔥

Ava had 11 of her 15 in q4, Savannah Simmons joined her in double figures with 11 for the Knights. Cara Macaluso was great for CBA & led all scorers with 20.

Let me shout out the @SyracuseNetsAAU 2026 guard gang. Friday night Live at the Nook brought the most coaches I’ve seen at a Nets game this decade, and what they saw - whether it was what they showed up for or not - was a moment.

Natalie Hollingshead shotmaking & energy helped set the tone 🎯

Meadow Werts brought smooth on & off-ball play with size to serve as a multi-positional defender.

Haylee Bostwick made it to town mid-game & instantly provided much needed physical toughness component.

And @ava_carpenter2… oh man 😅 big scoring punch & complete command of the game as the primary ballhandler & creator.

Not a bad night for Central New York 🏡
