@nicolelynne_g@yaf You can feel however you want to feel, that’s your right, but maybe try having a conversation with someone rather than sticking a camera in their face, following, and harassing them. They have a right to privacy and basic human decency. And you might actually learn something…
@nicolelynne_g@yaf So you made an account for the sole purpose of being hateful? Checks out for what X has become a platform for and why I left it. You make me embarrassed for Tampa and your school.
@DownByDfault I’ve noticed the key to longevity is apparently to announce you’re retiring, but then just keep on keeping on. I hang up the headphones after almost every gig.
@nickdawg I love how loosely they throw around discrimination not understanding these words must involve an unequal power dynamic and harm. Classic face of privilege. Quit bitching and moaning and create your own opportunities… the entire rest of the world is your oyster, after all.
@ushmel Can’t determine if they’re hateful themselves off it, but they’re definitely playing into and helping the agenda of those that are. Even if it’s just for a laugh, knowing the harm it contributed towards causing makes it a very serious thing to me.
@YoItsRem There’s a few of those on @YouTube. Have some mixes on @mixcloud and @SoundCloud as well using @ or / avbleek everywhere, but admittedly could do with more. I’ve focused on DJing and always been a need to be there, up close and personal type. Haven’t released any productions yet.
@peterdaou I didn’t even need to know the full context to understand “stupid” here meant immature, as in prone to making dumb life choices, unaware of the gravity or weight of their real life consequences, not literal intelligence. After gaining context, you are wrong for spinning this.
@musthaverecords@djaltonmiller I don’t really draw up as hard of barriers around that fact or these styles as it could’ve just as easily been the Detroit sound of house.… getting us back to marketing and media narratives shaping culture and vice versa. In regards to queer techno, Aaron-Carl was quite special.
@musthaverecords@djaltonmiller I’m not pushing back. Just saying it makes sense why this is the narrative when these straight pioneers from Detroit, Chicago, and NYC have consistently referenced gay clubs and DJs as their inspiration for where they got most of their education on music in the context of clubs.
@musthaverecords So you kind of have it backwards. They repurposed queer culture, which they all admit and acknowledge, preventing gay erasure. It’s the same story in Chicago with groups like Chosen Few. Neither of us were there, but maybe you can chat with @djaltonmiller who was. Queer roots.
@musthaverecords Because it’s still rooted in queer club culture through all of its inspirations like Ken Collier, Larry Levan, Ron Hardy, Frankie Knuckles… first “techno” club, Music Institute’s, Saturdays were favored by a more queer crowd although D May’s more techno Fridays were straighter.
