This José Mourinho answer, on being the enemy of the 'system' so often:
"I prefer to be on this side. But it's more difficult… to play against the system is the most difficult thing there is."
• 3 years vs Negreira
• 9 years vs Man City's 115
• 1 year vs Galatasaray
😳 "The Sir Alex v Pep debate is now over."
❌ "I'd leave him out of the [G.O.A.T Premier League manager] conversation
Rory Jennings makes a bold claim about Pep Guardiola's Man City legacy 👀
You were always wrong Adam. You were an INEOS cheerleader all summer.
You had the chance to call out their incompetence but you instead turned into lectures on financing. Let me teach you a little financing lesson.
You cannot run a football club on the cheap and expect elite results. You MUST pay the price for elite players, and management, and subsequently, elite results will follow.
Don't talk again next summer.
Michael Carrick looks very dejected in his post match interview, shell-shocked even. He knows he will be the (latest) fall guy if the tide doesn't turn quickly. But Jason Wilcox and his recruitment team have let the manager down with their summer recruitment. Negligent.
Disgusting from Manchester United. Completely unacceptable on every level.
It genuinely looks like these players have stopped responding to Carrick. To fail to win after leading at half-time for the first time in 50 years tells you how badly this collapsed.
Carrick's position now looks increasingly vulnerable, and the players have sent a pretty clear message with that performance.
But please don't kid yourselves that simply changing the manager fixes Manchester United. We've been through that cycle repeatedly.
Hold Carrick accountable. Hold the players accountable. But don't lose sight of the bigger picture. STOP FUNDING THE OWNERSHIP.
Maybe Carrick's system is not suited for these players. Adapt. Maybe Carrick should listen to UCL winning manager at Valencia Gary Neville:
"I expected them to adapt to a back 3 better [under Amorim]. I didn't think they'd too good CBs to play a back 4"
Which goes to how much we got to appreciate the kids who have come through the ranks with humility.
Lacey, kobbie, Amass and i am sure we will see Noah, thwaites, Armer in the near future. The club is always bigger than ANY INDIVIDUAL MUST COME TO FLOOR NOW.
Nobody is bigger than the club. Yes the #Gabriel is a generational talent, but having supported the club for over 25 years. Have seen many come and go. The club will always produce and nurture.
I wont blame the child, he is purely surrounded by bad eggs around him.
He could go on to become a world beater but if we are going to allow a 15 year old and his dad to get the club to bend over. I am not having it. I have given INEOS stick for many things, but one thing they have to do here is implement a no-nonsense culture.
Noah Ajayi should take JJ Gabriel's place in tomorrow's squad. Reward the players who keep their head down & work hard for opportunities. There will always be a pathway for young players who earn it.
This is great news & we needed it.
Let’s have the conversation now!!!
Sir Alex Ferguson explained that when Man United began the succession process, several of the most attractive candidates were effectively unavailable.
3 major candidates — Pep Guardiola, José Mourinho and Jürgen Klopp. Guardiola ultimately went to Bayern Munich, Mourinho was keen to return to Chelsea and Klopp had committed to Dortmund.
Ancelotti was also heading to Real Madrid, while Louis van Gaal was committed to the Netherlands for the 2014 World Cup.
Ferguson had actually spoken to Guardiola in September 2012 and asked him to contact him before accepting another job. Guardiola didn’t do so and subsequently joined Bayern.
Now prior to David Moyes joining Man United, he was one of the most experienced premier league managers for years
Moyes had spent 11 years building Everton with relatively limited resources, which appealed to Sir Alex because United wanted stability and someone who understood the whole club, rather than simply a coach focused on the first team.
The then CEO, David Gill also said they wanted somebody who could understand all aspects of the club, including youth development, rather than just managing the senior team.
With Jose, Klopp, Pep and Carlo all unavailable, the unanimous decision was Moyes who was not even back properly by the board!
Moyes wanted prime Balde at Spurs, Toni Kroos while at Bayern, Cesc Fabregas and a return of Cristiano Ronaldo but not of these players were signed.
OUR OWNERS ARE THE MAJOR PROBLEM OF THIS CLUB NOT SIR ALEX!!!!
