@DanNeidle I appreciate it’s theoretically possible, but knowing how rigorous and long-winded the listing process is, it seems very unlikely to happen. And if it did, and encouraged wealthy people to spend their money restoring buildings of national importance, would that be so bad … ?
@DanNeidle What is the mechanism by which you think tax considerations would enter into the listing process at Historic England and the DCMS? And do you think tax savings would really outweigh the significant implications of listed building consent for building owners?
@DanNeidle Construction tendering is generally pretty competitive and open book, and there is an entire profession of quantity surveyors to keep them honest, so I really don’t think specialist contractors would get away with adding 20% to their rates overnight.
@BBCLondonNews No this is incorrect, Roland Paoletti was in overall charge but the individual stations were designed by different architectural practices including @FosterPartners and @Hopkins_Arch.
The sun has been out this week, so we thought we would have a quick Virtual Tour of some of the various modernist Sun Houses and their art deco relatives like the Sun Trap. Put on your sunscreen and let's go! 🌞
