New #mnwild forward Maxim Shabanov is an exciting gamble. An absolute star in the KHL where he posted 67 points in 65 games in ‘24-‘25. The film and skill speaks for itself.
In his first NHL season he only appeared in 44 games and had 18 points. He is on the shorter side and wasn’t able to find steady playing time under HC Patrick Roy.
Of the 67 points, 44 were assists. And of the 18 points, 13 were assists. Shabanov is a creator first, and a natural goal-scorer second.
Playing with fellow Russian Kirill Kaprizov and a playmaking defenseman in Quinn Hughes, I am really excited to what Shabanov could bring to the #mnwild.
The $1.6M risk is definitely worth the potential reward for Minnesota.
