Need advice! Does it make sense to negotiate an offer as someone who has limited industry experience? I was told my technical interview presentation was one of the best, and received a verbal offer with an hour of my final interview. Unsure of whether to use that as reasoning π
@Elixir_Js I have everything written in third person, past tense. Ensure to be consistent with your writing in your bio, experience descriptions, etc. Link projects. Also, if youβre searching for work, customize your profile pic so it has the βOpen to Workβ badge ππΌ
@Elixir_Js Ask people youβve worked with if they are willing to write you thorough recommendations that highlight your top skills! Ask them to highlight specific stories to make it personal. I have some of these on my profile and they help show that I actually am competent in my skills.
Recruiters will often give an offer *expecting* that youβll negotiate.
As a hiring manager, I once wanted to give a top-of-band offer but the recruiter insisted on slightly less, expecting them to negotiate.
I agreed- but the candidate accepted the offer without negotiating! π€¦π½ββοΈ
@MansoorOsmar THANK YOU for sharing your perspective as a hiring manager! Donβt know much about what goes on on the other side, so I appreciate this!
@_kejious @ShawnAxsom@TiffTiffAnny Such thorough advice. This helped me think about the situation in a different way, and I feel more prepared to ask for more and explain why. THANK YOU π
@almeezyuh True, I need to keep in mind that the worst they can do is say no! Someone recommended Glassdoor and I saw the base pay range. My offer amount was the lowest value in the range π€£ so now I understand why you say they leave room to negotiate!
@DevchicaJasmin @Aliofonzy43 Oh no π not sure how Twitter algorithm works but maybe that could be a reason why youβre not seeing as much of her tweets
