Almost exactly a year ago to the day, I uncovered that a dozen of the most viral images presented as evidence of famine in Gaza in fact showed children with unrelated medical issues, including cystic fibrosis and autoimmune conditions.

The investigation earned me death threats, calls for me to be tried at The Hague, and jabs by a high-profile comedian on national TV—despite the fact that we’ve had to issue exactly zero corrections on our story.

Our point was simply to tell readers that if there was a famine in Gaza, photographs of these children were not evidence of it.

What is indisputable today is that there is currently no famine in Gaza.

That is the major finding from a UNICEF-led team that recently produced the most comprehensive and robust nutrition survey of Gaza since the war began.

The survey found that less than a year after a famine was declared in Gaza, the territory has one of the lowest malnutrition rates in the region. A recovery that swift is not just “miraculous,” in the words of a malnutrition researcher I spoke with—it raises questions in and of itself. Questions like: How can a war-torn territory go from famine to showing some of the lowest rates of child malnutrition in the region in less than a year? 

In my report today for @TheFP, I investigate that question, its implications, and what it means for the debate over the official decision to classify a famine in Gaza still raging 12 months on.

The Irish cricket team is about to play 5 one day cricket matches against Afghanistan . Men v Men. Women are banned from playing cricket in Afghanistan. They are also banned from taking their children to a park. They must be neither seen nor heard in Afghanistan.

No Irish campaign to stop or boycott the matches. No journalistic outrage at their taking place. No Irish political activists or women’s groups interested. Why? Afghanistan is ruled by fundamentalist, authoritarian, Islamic misogynists. No one Jewish to blame or demonise.

Irish political activists who speak the language of human rights have no real interest in human rights. Only interested in weaponising human rights language to promote a malevolent, deeply ingrained, indoctrinated, anti semitic agenda.

Odysseus, in Eretz Yisrael. A section of a 1,500-year-old mosaic discovered in Israel in 1964, in the Beit She’an area. This panel shows the famous scene of Odysseus bound to the mast of his ship, looking to the left, toward what was probably a Siren. Below him, a sailor faces another Siren playing a flute.

The house belonged to a prominent Jewish man, Leontis Kloubas, as indicated by the dedication, which includes the symbol of the Jewish menorah. The entire mosaic was eight meters long, and another section depicted the god of the Nile.

It is fascinating to see just how cosmopolitan Jewish life in Eretz Yisrael was 1,500 years ago- with Greek mythology, pagan imagery, and Jewish identity all appearing within the same work of art. I read about this on Dr. Pnina Arad page.

This feels like a good moment to remember that Ireland got rich not by producing much or innovating anything, but mostly by becoming one of the world's biggest tax havens -- by enabling large companies from other nations to hide their tax revenues from their home nations.

Apple, Microsoft and Google have routed many hundreds of billions of dollars through Ireland to shelter their profits.

Israel, in contrast, got rich by innovating at a colossal scale. It spends 6% of its GDP on R&D, the highest of any nation on Earth. 10% of its workforce works in tech.

That's why those same Apple, Microsoft and Google all built massive R&D centers in Israel, alongside 500 other multinationals. The defense tech is famous, but Israel is also a global powerhouse in water and agriculture. And it draws 10% of global deep-tech investment in medical devices and food R&D.

So a tax-cheat nation that got rich by impoverishing others now refuses a safety system meant to land planes safely in the fog from a nation that actually produces new and useful things for the world.

It's one thing not to buy arms, or to exact political costs for a war you hate. This isn't that. This is just sanctimonious narcissism.

Take the fog safety system, you preening tax-cheats. We promise to look the other way.

לכן יש משהו כמ��ט גרוטסקי בכך שהמדינה העברית שקמה מתוך המרד הזה מכפיפה היום תחומי חיים שלמים לתכתיבי רבנים ומאפשרת לתפיסה משיחית לפרש את מוסדות המדינה ככלי בתכנית אלוהית. הציונות ביקשה להוציא את היהודי מן הגלות, אבל הגלות כנראה חזקה ממנה.
