In a recent survey compiled by the ISEAS - YII, a little more than half of people from ASEAN prefer to side with China (at 50.5%) over the US (at 49.5%).
The difference may appear insignificant, but the shift is reflective of increasing Chinese influence through its trade and economic inputs in the region. Major winners: Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia.
This could also explain why @ASEAN member countries are NOT SUPPORTIVE of the Philippines in matters relating to the #WPS / #SCS, where the Philippines and China have ongoing territorial disputes, with China being the aggressive, non-compliant party.
The Marcos administration (hello @DFAPHL) should look into potential closer strategic alliances with Vietnam, Singapore, Myanmar and Cambodia, apart from drumming up support from the US, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and other traditional Western allies.
For Filipino travelers, try exploring and investing your $$$ in ASEAN countries that "could be friendlier" to the Philippines --- Vietnam, Singapore, Myanmar and Cambodia. I've been to all four. These countries are amazing to see.

Formerly known as Island Cove, the property was previously owned by the Remulla family and was reportedly sold in 2018 to unnamed Chinese-Filipino investors engaged in POGO operations.
Here’s what you need to know about the said POGO hub and the rise of Chinese online gaming companies in the Philippines.
