Peter Siddle is 41. Actually 41. And he is still doing it. Still charging in for Melbourne Stars, still hitting 140 clicks( In Jan 2025, He actually bowled 148.1 kmph delivery to Tim David), still trusted to bowl death overs when the game's gone full chaos mode. It's absurd, really. And sort of brilliant... These are his numbers after 40 years of age in BBL : 12 games. 16 wickets. Economy 7.67. Not headline numbers. Not the sort that scream dominance. But context is everything in this sport & cricket lives on context... He was there at the start. The actual start. 2006, Victorian Bushrangers, when the Big Bash was just some quirky idea & now it's whatever year we're in...Different eras, different bat sizes, flatter pitches, smarter batters. Same Siddle. Same intensity. Here's a stat that'll make you blink: across all the top franchise leagues, the IPL, the CPL, the PSL, the SA20, the BPL, The Hundred, the SLPL... the whole alphabet soup of T20 cricket, no other quick has even half his wickets after turning 40. This season started with 3 for 30. Then 1 for 23 today, that 18th over: just three runs! He is just an old bloke who knows exactly where the ball needs to go and has the weird, stupid discipline to put it there... We throw "lionheart" around in cricket like confetti at a wedding. Every bloke who runs in with a bit of a limp gets it eventually. But Siddle makes you actually think about the word. Because longevity like this isn't just ticker. It's the ankles that should've gone, the back that probably screams at him every morning, the ridiculous optimism that there's another wicket in those fingers. The heart's there, sure. But the rest is just vandalism against common sense...

Out of all things, my respect for the Mumbai crowd just keeps increasing. They watch women cricket with the same passion as men cricket. Even during the WPL, there is always a good crowd in the stands. And today when team was struggling, they never stop cheering and motivating the players. 🫡
