Dr. Meenesh Shah (@ShahMeenesh), Chairman, NDDB (@NDDB_Coop) & NCDFI (@ncdficoop), accompanied by Shri Srinivas Sajja (@Sajja_NCDFI), MD, NCDFI (@ncdficoop), met with Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, IAS, Defence Secretary, Government of India, and discussed the continued role of dairy cooperatives in ensuring the supply of quality milk and milk products to defence establishments across the country through NCDFI.

NCDFI has been coordinating these supplies for the last 41 years, with 117 dairy cooperatives across the country participating in this important initiative. The annual supplies are worth over ₹1,600 crore, ensuring quality nutrition for soldiers while providing dairy farmers with an assured and remunerative market.

The interaction highlighted the collective efforts of NDDB, NCDFI and dairy cooperatives in strengthening farmer-centric supply chains and serving the nation with commitment, quality and trust.

The Board of Directors of Ferozepur and Hoshiarpur Milk Unions, led by their Chairmen, Shri Gurbhej Singh Tibbi and Shri Jaspal Singh Mander, respectively, visited NCDFI (@ncdficoop) and were warmly received by the NCDFI team.

Both Milk Unions are actively participating in milk supplies to Army units, coordinated by NCDFI.

During the visit, a presentation was made on the NCDFI eMarket platform, highlighting its role as a transparent and technology-enabled marketplace for the purchase and sale requirements of dairy cooperatives. Key features such as digital procurement, structured bidding, wider buyer-seller participation, improved price discovery, and efficient trade processes were also explained.

The interaction provided an opportunity to exchange views on leveraging digital platforms to enhance the competitiveness and outreach of dairy cooperatives. The visit further reinforced the shared commitment towards strengthening the cooperative movement through innovation, collaboration, and farmer-centric initiatives.

Senior officials of the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC @mdncdc), led by Shri Rohit Gupta, Dy Managing Director, NCDC, and Dr. Manoj Kumar, Director General, LINAC visited NCDFI (@ncdficoop).

During the visit, the NCDFI eMarket platform was presented, highlighting its role as a transparent and technology-enabled marketplace for dairy and allied sectors. The presentation covered key features of the platform, including digital procurement, structured bidding, wider buyer-seller participation, improved price discovery and efficient trade processes.

The interaction also provided an opportunity to discuss how the eMarket model can be extended to support other cooperative institutions and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in marketing their produce through transparent digital trade linkages and better market access.

The visit reinforced the shared commitment of NCDC and NCDFI towards strengthening cooperative marketing, promoting digital innovation, and building a more efficient, inclusive, and farmer-centric cooperative ecosystem.

"एनडीडीबी (@NDDB_Coop) द्वारा लद्दाख मिल्क फेडरेशन की कमान संभालने के बाद डेयरी सहकारिता का दायरा 28 गांवों तक पहुंचा है, जहां 1700 से अधिक दूध उत्पादक इससे जुड़ चुके हैं। अब लक्ष्य है कि अनुकूल क्षेत्रों के 85% गांवों तक इस नेटवर्क की पहुंच सुनिश्चित की जाए, ताकि अधिक से अधिक पशुपालकों का जीवन स्तर बेहतर हो सके।
वर्तमान में दैनिक दूध खरीद लगभग 7000 किलोग्राम तक पहुंच चुकी है। इसे अगले चार वर्षों में बढ़ाकर 21,000 किलोग्राम करने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है, जिससे किसानों की आय और क्षेत्र की समृद्धि में उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि होगी।"

NCDFI (@ncdficoop) is honoured to share that Shri Amit Shah (@AmitShah), Hon’ble Union Home and Cooperation Minister, will grace the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the new dairy plant in Kargil, under the Ladakh Milk Federation, as the Chief Guest. The programme is scheduled to be held tomorrow, May 1, 2026, in Leh, Ladakh.

This landmark initiative at Ladakh Milk Federation, an important member of NCDFI, marks a significant step towards strengthening dairy infrastructure and promoting cooperative-led growth in the region. The support and guidance of NDDB (@NDDB_Coop) have provided a strong impetus to the overall dairy development in the region, enabling the creation of a more robust and sustainable dairy ecosystem. The enhanced infrastructure will play a vital role in ensuring a steady supply of fresh milk and dairy products to consumers, particularly the Defence Forces, while also creating an assured market for local dairy farmers. This, in turn, will support farmer livelihoods and contribute to their long-term prosperity.
