When disaster strikes, connectivity becomes a lifeline.

To ensure uninterrupted communication amid heavy rainfall in Gujarat, DoT has activated Intra-Circle Roaming (ICR) in Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Valsad districts till 27th July 2026.

This enables mobile users to connect to any available network when their home network is affected, supporting residents, emergency responders and relief operations.

DoT Gujarat LSA conducted a virtual review meeting with the BNUs of the UT of DNH&DD, along with BSNL, on 09.07.2026.

The meeting reviewed the progress and utilisation of the Amended BharatNet Project (ABP), discussed feedback and operational issues raised by BNUs, and emphasized the need to accelerate provisioning of rural FTTH connections. DoT encouraged BSNL and all stakeholders to work in close coordination for timely implementation and enhanced digital connectivity across rural DNH&DD.

Strengthening disaster preparedness for Gujarat LSA! 📡

DoT Gujarat convened the 3rd STDCC meeting today for FY 2025-26 with all TSPs, GSDMA & NDRF to review the preparedness of telecom resilience against disasters.

In collaboration with the Gujarat Institute of Amateur Radio, a special session on 'HAM Radio for Disaster Management' was organized as an alternate communication channel when conventional networks fail.

We discussed India’s transformative digital journey, from DPI, UPI and DBT to 5G expansion and explored deeper cooperation in Quantum Communications, AI, regulatory innovation and rural broadband.

Also sought Ireland’s support for India’s candidature at the @ITU, including our proposal to host PP-2030.

On 10.02.2026, a visit was conducted to Gram Panchayat PANSORA in ANAND District. Visited Gram Panchayat Pansora, Anand on 10.02.2026. A meeting was held with the members of the Digital Access Committee (DAC) of Samriddh GP and village representatives. Inspection of BSNL equipment & FTTH connections were carried out and user feedback was collected on service quality to strengthen rural digital connectivity. A brief awareness session on SancharSaathi was also conducted for GP staff and village representatives.

Education Hub Diu hosted a huge live telecast of Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026, bringing together exam warriors from across the entire Diu district. The event aimed at motivating students and promoting a stress free approach towards examination.
Adding value to the program Sanchar Mitras of Govt. A review meeting was held on 21.01.2026 under the chairmanship of the Deputy Director General (Compliance) with all Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) to review the status of suspected POA/POI cases, mobile connections exceeding the prescribed limits as per DoT guidelines, verification of numbers reflected in DoT and stakeholder modules, and pendency under Know Your Mobile Connections (KYM). During the meeting, the DDG (Compliance) emphasized the need for expeditious action by the TSPs to ensure a significant reduction in such cases.

An inspection of PoS of BSNL was carried out on 20.01.2026 in accordance with the DoT PoS guidelines dated 31.08.2023 issued by the Department of Telecommunications.
The PoS was found duly registered and operating with a valid PoS ID as prescribed.
Verification of PoS credentials, address details and supporting documents was found to be in order.
Customer enrolment was observed to be carried out only after proper KYC and authentication, in line with extant instructions.
Records relating to SIM issuance and enrolment were properly maintained and traceable.
Overall, the PoS was found satisfactory and compliant with the prescribed DoT PoS guidelines.
